In case of hard drive not detected error, it is recommended to first verify the connections of the drive, including its power cable, USB cable, and enclosure if applicable. For internal hard drives, another point that should be checked is whether the drive is seen in BIOS/UEFI. In Windows, Disk Management is also a helpful location where one can look since a drive can be seen in this tool even if it is not normally seen in File Explorer. If the drive is seen but it is unallocated, RAW, offline, or drive letterless, then do not format or initialize it straight away if its existing data is needed.
