Connect failed message.

hi, I've managed to load the SMART IPTV app onto my Samsung Smart TV. Also loaded a m3u file but am getting a "Connect failed" message. Any thoughts please.
do I need to connect a VPN to make this work?
 
ok overnight I managed to get a playlist to load but can't get anything else to happen. Does anyone know how to force a reload. The app does not allow access to the controls at screen bottom from the Samsung TV remote.
Would really appreciate some help, please.
